Top 7 Dental Care Resolutions for 2019

You only get 1 set of adult teeth and it's vital that you take care of them. As we near the beginning of a new year, it's the perfect time to set some goals. As your experienced dentist in southern Missouri, we know how important it is to focus on your oral health. Take a look below for some dental care resolution ideas.

1. Brush Twice a Day

It is recommended by dentists to brush your teeth at least two times a day. Once first thing in the morning and again before you go to bed. In the morning, brushing can help eliminate any plaque and residue that has built up overnight. Brushing again at the end of the day can help get rid of any food particles and plaque that may be in your mouth from eating during the day.

2. Floss Every Day

At least once a day, you should floss between your teeth. This can help rid your mouth of food and bacteria between the teeth that can be hard to reach with a toothbrush. Another benefit of flossing is that it promotes healthy gums, which is an integral part of the mouth.

3. Eat a Balanced Diet

What you put into your mouth, and body for that matter can impact your overall health. A well-balanced diet is recommended to help keep your teeth and entire mouth healthy. Foods that are filled with sugar can build up on the tooth surface and cause damage. Try to reduce the amount of sugar intake in your diet.

4. Clean Tongue

A tongue makes up about thirty percent of the mouth surface area. Cleaning this surface can help reduce the amount of bacteria present in the mouth, and encourage fresh breath.

5. Eliminate Tobacco Use

Smoking or chewing tobacco can damage your gums and negatively impact your oral health. Try to reduce the use of these harmful products, if you do partake.

6. Stop Grinding Teeth

Many people grind their teeth during the day and at night. Grinding can wear down the tooth enamel, leaving it exposed to bacteria and germs. If you grind your teeth while you are awake, make efforts to reduce this bad habit. At night a mouth guard can be worn to protect teeth from grinding against one another.

7. Visit the Dentist

Regular dental check-ups should be scheduled every six months. This can help ensure that your mouth is healthy and any issues can be addressed if needed. A dentist will usually look over your entire mouth for any problems and perform a deep cleaning of the teeth and gums.

Now that you know some tips for better dental care near Springfield, MO, you're ready to start making improvements toward reaching your resolutions. As your southern MO dentist, we know how impactful it can be to take proper care of your teeth. Start experiencing the difference for yourself when you add these dental care resolutions to your list! Make 2019 YOUR year!

We want to be your dentist because your family deserves a great smile!

6 Tips to Ease Your Child's Fear of the Dentist

A trip to the dentist can be intimidating for children if they don't know what to expect ahead of time. A little preparation can go a long way for getting your child ready for a visit to the dentist. Our dental offices in Southern Missouri strive to provide a great environment for children and the adults too. If you have a little one that's a bit nervous about their trip to the dentist, these tips will help to make it easier on the both of you.

Talk About It
Sometimes simply taking the mystery out of the experience is enough to ease anxiety. Talk to your kids in a positive way about what goes on during a dental visit. Share your personal experiences with them to let them know that it doesn't scare you. Don't over-discuss it though. Keep everything simple, matter-of-fact, and to the point. If you don't make a big deal out of it they will be more likely to think of their visit to the dentist as a normal, unscary event.

Avoid Using Bribery
You want a trip to the dentist to be something your child sees as a normal occurrence for the future health of their teeth, not something they have to be tricked into doing. Praise them for good behavior before and during the visit. Instead of promising a treat for going, you might make it a tradition to do something special after the visit that they can look forward to in the future. Not really a reward, just a fun event that you share together.

Role Play
Practice for your child's first visit to the dentist by taking turns pretending to be the dentist. This will help them get used to having someone that close to their face and looking around inside their mouth. After you have given them a good idea about what the dentist will be doing, let them have a turn checking out your teeth too. You can also find lots of fun books on the subject to read together that will ease their fears.

Start Dental Care Early
The earlier your child starts visiting the dentist, the better. If Access Dental & Dentures is a place that they are used to at a young age, the more comfortable they will feel when it's their turn to be in the chair. It's best if their first visit starts at age 1 or when the first tooth is visible.

Lead By Example
Letting your child see you go through a routine checkup is a wonderful way to show them how easy it can be. After seeing mom or dad go through the motions, they will have more courage to step up into that chair themselves. If you need to have something a little more invasive done or you have a painful cavity that is being taken care of, try your best not to speak negatively about any of it in front of your child. Those words can cause a fear that will grow quickly in the imagination of a child.

Find the Right Dentist
It's extremely important to find a dentist that you feel comfortable with and that you know is knowledgeable and trustworthy. All of our dentists in Southern Missouri are excellent at working with people of all ages. We will make your child's first dental experience, as well as every visit after that, a positive one. Our goal is to help all children feel good about visiting the dentist and to establish good dental care habits they will take with them throughout life.

The tips above will go a long way in helping your child feel comfortable and confident about a trip to the dentist. At Access Dental & Dentures, we love kids! Call 877-DENTIST to reach the dentist office in Southern Missouri that is closest to you. You can schedule an appointment for your child that will put them on the road to a life with healthy teeth.

We want to be your dentist because your family deserves a great smile!

7 Tips to Keep Your Teeth Healthy & Bright Over the Holidays

We are in the midst of the holiday season which means that you are probably being tempted more than usual by deliciously sweet treats everywhere that you go. Access Dental & Dentures wants you to enjoy yourself, but keep in mind the damaging effects that sugar can have on your teeth. Your trusted dentists in Southern Missouri have a few tips below on how you can enjoy those tempting treats but still keep your teeth clean and healthy, as well as a few other good things to keep in mind while you celebrate.

Regulate Sweet Treats
Sugar causes natural bacteria in your mouth to react. This creates acid inside the mouth, which starts to eat away at the protective covering of the tooth enamel. Do your best to not overdo it at the dessert table. All sugar can be bad, but sticky candy like taffy and gummies are the worst because they will cling to your teeth. Eating healthy foods first will help to fill you up so that you eat less of the sweet stuff, and chewing sugar-free gum will help you to avoid eating when you aren't really hungry.

Don't Forget to Brush
It's very important to stick to your regular oral care routine on a daily basis. Don't let the hustle and bustle of the holidays get in the way of that. No matter how tired you are at the end of the day, don't go to sleep with a mouthful of food stuck in and on your teeth. It only takes about two minutes twice a day to keep those cavities away!

Travel With Tools
This time of year when the treats are more tempting than usual and you may be away from home more often, it's wise to carry some dental care items with you. The sample sizes found at grocery stores are perfect for traveling and floss or a mini bottle of mouthwash is easy to carry in a purse or pocket. That way, if you eat something particularly sweet and sticky or you know you'll be staying out extremely late, you won't have to wait until you get home to take care of it.

Only Bite What You Should
It can be very tempting to use your teeth to open tough packaging, but DON'T DO IT! You risk cracking or breaking your teeth when you use them this way which can result in an expensive cosmetic repair job! The same goes for other things that are not edible - no opening corks or bottles with your teeth. They're not made for that!

It's not just the non-food items that you should be cautious of. For instance, nuts are meant to be chewed but their shells are NOT meant to be cracked with your teeth. Hard candy like jawbreakers or peanut brittle can be rough on your teeth, especially if those teeth are already worn down. It's a good idea to avoid chewing ice too because this can also be damaging over time.

Avoid Dark Beverages
It's best to stick to light-colored or clear beverages to avoid staining your teeth. Drinking through a straw that takes the liquid past your teeth can help to lessen the effect, but if you're trying to keep your pearly whites actually white, it's a good idea to skip the red wine or cranberry juice.

Drink Lots of Water
The best clear beverage out there is water. Staying hydrated is good for your entire body, but water is particularly good for your teeth because it can wash away some of the food particles and bacteria for you. Also, drinking water will help to keep you feeling full, meaning you might be more likely to turn down that second helping of holiday cookies!

Schedule a Post-Holiday Checkup
Start the new year off on a healthy note by scheduling a regular checkup at our Springfield, Missouri dental office or one of our other 4 locations in Southern Missouri. Not only will this get your teeth back to their cleanest and shiniest, but any problems that may have been caused by all of those extra temptations over the holidays can be caught early.

As long as you pay attention to the type of things you are putting in your mouth and do your best to stick to a regular oral care routine, we're sure that you can make it through the holidays without damaging that beautiful smile. Our dental offices in Southern Missouri are here to take care of you when problems with your teeth occur, but stick to the tips we've shared with you in today's blog and you should only have to visit Access Dental & Dentures for regular, healthy checkups!

We want to be your dentist because your family deserves a great smile!

7 Stocking Stuffer Gift Ideas to Promote Healthy Teeth

While you are making your holiday shopping list, this is the perfect time to sneak in a few practical gifts along with the fun ones. Your dentists in Southern Missouri have a few tips on how to make some of these useful items a bit more fun in today's blog. That way, you should get a smile with the "thank you" instead of an eye roll! (And these gifts will help to keep that smile beautiful!)
Toothbrush
When giving a toothbrush as a gift, go the extra mile to find special designs that are more interesting than your usual, everyday toothbrush. It could be as simple as finding favorite colors, or perhaps a favorite character featured on the handle. (These are generally aimed at children, but we know quite a few adults that would happily brush with a superhero toothbrush!) A nice electric toothbrush is an excellent upgrade too.

Teeth-Cleaning Aids
Pair that brand new toothbrush with other items that work with it to keep teeth clean. Floss can be found in fun flavors. Mini bottles of mouthwash let each person have their very own bottle and fit into a stocking perfectly. Sample tubes of different kinds of toothpaste also let the recipient try out new flavors.

A Cool Timer
You should aim to brush your teeth at least twice a day for 2 minutes each time. A fun timer will encourage this healthy habit. Find a theme that each person enjoys and an online search should help you find a timer that fits that theme nicely.
Sugar-Free Gum
Chewing sugar-free gum causes your mouth to create about ten times the normal amount of saliva. Saliva is the mouth's natural defense against acid and the increased flow helps to wash away food particles. Sugar-free gum that contains xylitol also reduces the growth of certain bacteria that cause cavities.

Personalized Containers
For any gift recipients on your list that happen to wear dentures, give them a special container to soak those dentures in overnight. It could be pretty, personalized with their name, or something humorous that will make them smile. Special retainer cases can be purchased for people that use those, and for the youngest on your list that is still losing baby teeth, give them a creative container to hold those teeth until the tooth fairy can get to them.

Reusable Straws
Using a straw to drink soft drinks and other sugary beverages can help to keep some of the liquid away from your teeth if positioned correctly. There are lots of reusable straws on the market now in a variety of colors and styles. Some are even collapsible and come in their own carrying case so that you can keep them in a purse or attach them to your keychain so they are always on hand.

Let Them Play Dentist
Some of these may be a little too big to fit inside a stocking, but they would be well-received wrapped up under the tree. In addition to encouraging good dental care, you might even inspire a future career in the recipient! There are various toys available that let kids pretend to be a dentist, and adding a lab coat or some fun scrubs to the gift can make it even more fun. You can also find games for mobile devices that let you pretend to be a dentist. Download these in secret and you can let the person know it is waiting on their phone or tablet by writing it on a card placed in their stocking.

When you personalize the items listed above to each person on your list, that makes them a little more fun to receive. Putting the extra thought into every gift that you give is what will make even the practical presents a joy to open. Access Dental & Dentures wishes a happy holiday season for everyone out there. May it be a wonderful celebration that keeps a smile on your face from ear to ear showing off those gorgeous pearly whites!

Perks of an Electric Toothbrush

Are you looking for a better way to clean your teeth? An electric toothbrush may be a great option for you and your oral health. Our southern Missouri dentist always encourages any oral care tool that gets our patients excited about their oral care. Here at Access Dental & Dentures, we want to point out some of the benefits of brushing with an electric toothbrush!

Cleans Better

With a number of rotations and movements, an electric toothbrush can deeply scrub the surface of the tooth. While a manual brush only cleans as much as you make the toothbrush move, an electric moves on its own battery power. With a variety of moments, from spinning to side to side, your tooth will get cleaned from every angle possible.

Fun Technology

The technology offers great benefits for a proper clean. Many electric toothbrushes have a timer built in, to ensure your brush your teeth for the recommended two minute duration. Another feature some of the electric models contains is a sensor to ensure you are applying the right amount of pressure for the right clean. A newer model even lets you know when your teeth are thoroughly cleaned.

Control your Power

The rotation speed can be adjusted on most electric toothbrush brands, giving you the power when it comes to your teeth. The brush can adapt to sensitive teeth by simply lowering the rotation speed when brushing, on most models.

Make it Fun

Whether you are trying to get your child excited about brushing his or her teeth or adding a little more fun for yourself, an electric toothbrush can do just that! Bring that excitement back onto your oral care routine!

It's Easy

With the electric toothbrush making the movements, all the operator is required to do is move the brush over the tooth surface. No back and forth and scrubbing is needed with an electric toothbrush. For a better clean with less effort, consider an electric toothbrush today!

Now you know some of the perks of using an electric toothbrush, you know what to add to your Christmas wish list! If you're thinking of a good gift to give your family, an electric toothbrush is a great gift idea! It's a fun way to promote oral care and get your family excited about their oral health!

We want to be your dentist because your family deserves a great smile!

Dental Care Tips for the Busy Holiday Season

It's officially the holiday season! This time of year a number of families are traveling to visit friends and family or maybe sneaking in a little family getaway. Either way, you'll likely be traveling this holiday season. Our southern Missouri dentist understands this time of year is busy but that's no excuse to let your oral care slide. Access Dental & Dentures has provided a few tips for keeping the focus on your oral care routine this holiday season.

Pack Small

There are a number of miniature oral hygiene items that take up less room when traveling. If it is not convenient, it may slip your mind or just take up too much room in your bag. A foldable toothbrush, a miniature tube of toothpaste, and a small bottle of mouthwash can easily fit in your suitcase or travel bag. If it is inconvenient, you may choose to leave it at home.

Keep Brush Dry

If your travel plans allow, try to let your toothbrush air out between uses. A moist brush in an enclosed space makes the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria. If you do have to keep your toothbrush enclosed, remember to wash your case and brush as soon as you get back home, to help eliminate bacteria build up.

Be Prepared

While no one plans to misplace luggage, try to be prepared when traveling over the holidays. Keep a spare toothbrush on you when traveling, that way you are never caught off guard. If your travel plans include a flight, keep a toothbrush in your carry-on bag as well as your checked bag, to ensure you arrive at your destination prepared.

Chew Gum

While it may be hard to brush your teeth throughout the day when traveling, sugar-free gum can help keep your tooth surface free of debris and plaque build up. Drinking green tea can also help to protect your teeth throughout the day.

Thoroughly Clean

Eating a gourmet feast, snacking with friends and family, and stuffing yourself with pumpkin pie are all things that remind us of Thanksgiving. All of these activities can wreak havoc on your mouth. Each morning and at the end of each night, ensure you perform a deep clean on your teeth and mouth. Brush at least twice a day, floss once a day, and use mouthwash after every brushing for a clean and healthy smile.

Eat Healthily

While it may be difficult to resist during the holiday feast, try to eat a well-balanced meal when possible over the weekend. In particular, try to limit your sugar intake this Thanksgiving. The sugar found in snacks and treats can promote bacteria growth, which can lead to tooth decay.

Now that you know how to better maintain your oral care while traveling, you're ready to pack your bags and hit the road! As your Springfield, MO dentist, we love to hear about your holiday travels. Next time you visit our dentist, be sure to tell us all about your exciting travels with friends and family! And don't forget to pack your toothbrush and floss!

We want to be your dentist because your family deserves a great smile!

Quick Tips for Infant Oral Care

As a new parent, oral care may be the last thing on your mind. Our dentist near Springfield, MO knows this is a busy time for you and your little but oral care is important for your baby. Even before your child has teeth, you can start a good oral care routine. Placing an importance on cleaning teeth can help promote healthy oral care from the start. Take a look below to learn some quick (because we know you're busy) tips for your child's oral care!

Start Them Young

Even before your child's teeth come in, it's important to clean his or her mouth. Wipe off the gums with a warm washcloth or gauze after each feeding. There are also small soft rubbery devices that fit over the parent's finger to help cleanse your baby's gums. It's never too early to get started cleaning your child's gums and teeth!

Care for Teeth from the Start

After your child's teeth come in, start taking care of them with an oral care routine right away. Many times parents think baby teeth aren't important because they will just fall out... but it's a great way to start promoting proper oral care at a young age and help to prevent gingivitis. These teeth actually are important because improve spacing for the permanent teeth to come through.

A child who has teeth emerging through the gum surface may be fussier than normal, due to the pain (hang in there parents, this too shall pass). Having a teething toy or teething ring handy can help alleviate this pain for your child. Freezing a wet washrag is another great teething solution if you don't have a teething toy on hand. There are also numbing ointments available for teething children. It's best to help your child reach a comfortable level when his or her teeth are popping through the surface.

Visit Access Dental & Dentures

The American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatrics recommend a baby get his or her first dental exam within six months of the first tooth emerging. This is a great opportunity for your child to get used to the dentist and helps promote proper oral care, even at a young age. Contact our southern Missouri dentist to schedule your child's first appointment today. Here at Access Dental And Dentures, we LOVE kids. Tips to Regulate Your Child's Sugar Intake this Halloween

Halloween is a popular holiday for many across the country. It's also one of the most dangerous times for your teeth. Sugar reacts with the bacteria naturally found in your mouth and causes buildup on your teeth. The influx in sugar around Halloween can cause permanent damage to your child's teeth. If you're looking for unique ways to regulate your child's candy intake, take a look below.

How Sugar Reacts Inside Mouth:

As you eat food with a high level of sugar, like candy, the bacteria in your mouth feed on the sugar that you intake. Once this bacteria feeds off sugar, it breaks down into acids that eat away at the enamel protecting your tooth. The longer sugar is in the mouth, the more the bacteria break down and can eat away at the tooth enamel. Crevices in the tooth that hold sticky, sugary candy are usually the most prone to having an issue caused by the bacteria eroding the protective layer on the teeth.

Ways to Regulate Child's Sugar Intake:

Donate Candy
There are a number of organizations and/or places to donate candy. You can help spread the joy by offering a portion of your child's candy to a good cause. It will help them feel good about giving back and help their teeth feel good with less candy to consume.

Limit Pieces of Candy
A good way to regulate candy intake is to set a limit of how many pieces can be eaten per day. While it may be tough on Halloween as kids sneak a few pieces in between trick-or-treat spots - days after you can only allow a small amount of candy to be consumed.

Divide Candy
Instead of one child eating a bunch of candy, consider dividing the candy up between your entire household. You can even bring some of the candy to your work to help reduce the amount your child eats.

Now that you know some ways to help keep your child's sugar intake at bay this Halloween, you're ready to start implementing some of these techniques tonight. As your kids are out trick-or-treating, consider which ways you will regulate their sugar intake. No matter what you choose, our southern Missouri dentist encourages you to monitor your child's sugar intake. Here at Access Dental & Dentures, we know this can be a challenging time of year for oral care but we are always here to help offer dental care advice. Contact our dentist office near Springfield, MO today to schedule an appointment to get your child's teeth professionally cleaned and checked over.

🍬DANGERS of Halloween Candy🍬

Halloween is right around the corner and it's one of the most popular holidays for kids and adults alike. It's also one of the most dangerous times of year for your child's teeth. While avoiding candy all together can be a difficult feat for many, your trusted dentist in Springfield, Missouri wants you to be aware of the damaging effects candy can have on your teeth. More details on how candy damages your teeth is provided below by Access Dental and Dentures.

How Sugar Reacts Inside Mouth

As you eat food with a high level of sugar, like candy, the bacteria in your mouth feed on the sugar that you intake. Once this bacteria feeds off sugar, it breaks down into acids that eat away at the enamel protecting your tooth. The longer sugar is in the mouth, the more the bacteria break down and can eat away at the tooth enamel. Crevices in the tooth that hold sticky, sugary candy are usually the most prone to having an issue caused by the bacteria eroding the protective layer on the teeth.

How to Deal with a Cavity

If you do have an issue arise from the bacteria breaking down your tooth enamel, a cavity, or hole in the tooth may occur. If you do experience a cavity, visit a dental professional as soon as possible. At this point, a professional will be able to fill in the cavity, helping to prevent further damage to the tooth.

How To Prevent Tooth Damage

There are a number of ways to help prevent damage to the tooth. First off, regulate the amount of sugary foods you intake, especially around the Halloween holiday. Along with watching your sugar intake, consider substituting candy for a sugar-free option. Drinking plenty of water can help wash away some of the sugar, and therefore bacteria build up, which causes damage to teeth. Ensure you brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once, to keep your teeth clear of damaging bacteria that can eat away at the protective enamel covering your teeth. A regular dental visit should be scheduled every six months to ensure no new tooth damage has occurred, and if there is an issue, it can quickly be addressed.

Now that you know more about how the sugar in candy effects the teeth, you can better prepare for the sugar overload that you may experience this Halloween. It's best to help regulate the amount of sugar your child takes in. Here at Access Dental & Dentures, we can help! If your child starts to get a toothache after the Halloween sugar overload, they may be getting a cavity. Bring them in to our dentist in southern Missouri for a routine cleaning and check over their teeth for damage.

EASY Ways to Improve Your Smile

Oral care is important and shouldn't be hard. Our southern Missouri dentist wants to share some tips to EASILY improve your oral care regimen. Here at Access Dental & Dentures we truly care about our patients AND their smiles. Below you can find some helpful tips on how to improve your smile through oral care.

Floss Every Daily

If you do not floss each day, you are missing 40% of the tooth surface in your mouth. Floss at least one time a day to remove debris from between your teeth and help keep your tooth surface clear of plaque that builds up throughout the day.

Brush Two Times a Day

It is recommended to brush your teeth twice every day, once in the morning and again before bed at night. This can help remove any food particles and bacteria that remain in your mouth throughout the day and overnight.

Incorporate Mouthwash

Using mouthwash can help clean your entire mouth and cleanse any hard to reach spaces. Mouthwash easily cleans between the teeth and all over your mouth for a fresh, clean feel.

Replace Toothbrush

Every three months, replace your toothbrush or toothbrush head. Over time, the bristles on your toothbrush will wear down and fray. These used bristles can be less effective at scrubbing the surface of your teeth as you brush.

Set a Timer

Two minutes is the recommended length of time to brush your teeth, twice a day. Until you are used to brushing for this long, consider setting a timer. This can help keep you on track and spend adequate time cleaning your teeth each time you brush.

Scrub Entire Mouth

Brushing your teeth is important; for optimum oral care, try to brush the inside of your entire mouth. From the roof of your mouth to your tongue, bacteria can build up all over your mouth.

Visit the Dentist

It's important to visit a dental professional on a regular basis. Even if you don't notice an issue, a dentist can inspect your mouth to make sure there are no un-noticed issues. They can also do an x-ray to get a visual of what's happening behind the scenes. This is important information to monitor and make sure there are no drastic changes happening that shouldn't be.

Now that you know these EASY ways to improve your smile, you're ready to start making changes to your oral care routine. If you noticed, visiting the dentist on a regular basis was on the list of things to focus on. If you haven't been to see a dental professional in Springfield, MO in awhile, it may be time. Habits to Break to Protect Your Teeth

How many of these bad habits do you do? Some bad habits can damage your teeth. As your experienced dentist in southern Missouri, we know how dangerous it can be to perform these bad habits on a regular basis. If you're worried about how your habits are affecting your teeth, stop by Access Dental & Dentures today. We can look over your teeth to let you know how your habits may be impacting your oral health. Take a look below to learn how these bad habits can take a toll on your teeth.

Nail Biting

Biting nails is an easy way to invite bacteria into your mouth. Aside from unnecessary amounts of bacteria, biting your nails can also damage your tooth. Chipping teeth and negative impacts on your jaw muscles and bones are caused by this bad habit. To avoid further tooth damage, work to find a way to relieve the urge to bite your nails.

Chewing Ice

Any hard substance chewed between your teeth can cause damage, ice included. It can put pressure and end up chipping the tooth surface or fillings you may have. To avoid this habit, consider drinking chilled drinks without ice or use a straw when drinking a glass filled with ice.

Consuming Sugary Drinks

Soda and other sugar-filled drinks can cause unnecessary damage to your tooth's surface. Bacteria thrives when sugar is found in the mouth. This can lead to the decay of your tooth's protective layer, enamel. Cavities come along after the enamel covering has been damaged and this can cause tooth decay and other oral issues. Swap out your sugar-filled drinks for a refreshing glass of water.

Grinding Teeth

Many people will grind their teeth as a nervous habit or while they sleep. If you do this. it's can cause surface damage to your teeth. Chipping or cracking of your tooth surface is another side effect of teeth grinding. Try to relax in other ways to avoid tooth grinding.

Use Teeth as a Tool

Teeth are made for eating, not a tool. Avoid opening items with your teeth. Whether you're ripping open a package or bending something, your teeth are not to be used. A tooth breaking or chipping is often a side effect of using your teeth for an unintended purpose. To avoid this bad habit, make it a point to not use your teeth as a tool and take the time to find the proper item to accomplish your task.

After reading through this list, have you realized you have a few of these bad habits? Now is the time to try to break any bad habits before they cause even more damage to your teeth. If you're worried about the condition of your teeth, contact our Springfield, Missouri dentist to schedule an appointment. We look forward to checking over your teeth and helping you work toward a healthy, beautiful smile.
